His playing is distinguished by a lyrical and evocative touch, rich and surprising harmonic colors, and a joyful sense of play and adventure. Currently based in the Los Angeles area, Miro has been an active performer and composer in the the world of jazz and creative music since 2001. He has worked extensively in wide range of musical contexts ranging from solo piano to septet and is currently a member of several cooperative ensembles including Tone Forest with bassist Marty Jaffe and guitarist Jason Ennis and a quartet with Daniel Rotem, Christian Euman and Karl McComas-Reichl. Over the course of his career Miro has performed/recorded with a wide range of artists including Ingrid Jensen, Greg Osby, Walter Smith III, Jerome Jennings, Jerry Bergonzi, Matt Wilson, Jonathan Pinson, Lewis Nash, Jeff Parker, Josh Johnson, and many others. He is also an in-demand vocal accompanist and since 2015 has been the pianist of choice for renowned vocalist Karrin Allyson, touring extensively with her throughout the U.S. and overseas. In addition to his work with Karrin, Miro has also worked with vocalists Dominique Eade, Michael Mayo, Kristin Berardi, Sara Gazarek, Kenny Washington and the vocal group säje. Miro grew up in a musical family in Western Massachusetts and began playing the piano and composing music in his early teens. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA (later renamed the Herbie Hancock Institute). He studied piano with Eugene Uman, Gary Dial, John Kamitsuka and Jason Moran and also had the opportunity to learn from many master musicians including Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Hal Crook, Jerry Bergonzi, James Newton, Billy Childs and many others.
